Engage Your Viewers. Moderate Your Stream. Build Community.

Kick's chat system is designed to be fast, flexible, and fun — giving you and your audience powerful ways to interact during your stream.

Why Kick Chat Matters

  • Build loyalty through engagement
  • Keep the stream safe and positive with mod tools
  • Use emotes and GIFs for viewer expression
  • Enhance stream flow with chat overlays and bots

Core Kick Chat Features

1. Real-Time Live Chat

  • Appears instantly with no delay
  • Viewers can tag your name, send emojis, and chat freely
  • Messages can be deleted or timed out by you or moderators

✅ Best Practice: Greet people by name and reply to key comments on stream.

2. Moderator Tools

You (or trusted mods) can:

  • Timeout users
  • Ban users
  • Delete specific messages
  • Promote users to mod from chat directly

To assign a mod:

  • Go to Settings → Channel → Add user under Moderators
  • Or in chat, type: /mod username

3. Emotes & GIFs Support

Kick supports:

  • Global emotes
  • Custom emotes (for verified or partnered streamers)
  • Tenor-powered GIFs (enabled by default)

✅ Great way to encourage subs by unlocking exclusive emotes.

4. Pinned Messages

You can pin important messages in chat:

  • Stream rules
  • Discord link
  • Polls or call to action

Click the "…" on your message and select Pin.

5. Chatbots & Alerts Integration

While Kick doesn't yet have native bots like Twitch's Nightbot, third-party options work great:

  • Botrix
  • StreamElements (via browser overlay)
  • KickTools & KickAlerts (chat + alerts)

Features you can add:

  • Welcome messages
  • Auto-moderation
  • Commands (e.g. !discord, !uptime, etc.)
  • Song requests
  • Timed shoutouts

Advanced Chat Overlay for OBS

Want to show chat on stream?

Use:

  • Botrix Chat Overlay
  • Kick Chat Overlay extension (browser source)
  • StreamElements browser widget (experimental support)

Paste the overlay link into OBS → Add → Browser Source → Set width & height.
