What creators can write off

A write-off is a cost of the business, documented, and allowed where you file. A shopping spree is not a write-off because you filmed it.

If you cannot explain the business use, do not assume

Gear, software, a portion of home internet, contractors, and travel to a shoot are the kinds of costs creators ask about. Whether you can deduct them, and how much, is local law. Mixed use (a camera you also take on vacation) is where people get sloppy.

Save the receipt and a note about the job it was for. If a deduction feels like a loophole you saw in a video, that is the one to ask a CPA about before you file it.

Not professional advice

This is creator education. It is not legal, tax, or financial advice. Where you live changes the answer. Take contracts, companies, and deductions to a professional who works with creators.
