How to multistream

Multistreaming sends one show to more than one platform. You pay for it in bitrate, in chat, and in whatever each platform’s rules allow that week.

One encoder budget, two conversations

OBS, Aitum, Restream, and similar tools can send to Twitch and YouTube, or Twitch and TikTok, or another pair. Each destination needs a key, a title, and a moderation plan. Combined chat is convenient and also a place for raids and scam links to hide. Have a mod or a bot on each side before you grow the room.

Vertical plus horizontal is a different project from "same stream, two sites." Read the dual-format lesson if the phone crop matters. And read each platform’s simulcast rules before you assume you are allowed to do it.

  • Test your upload with the full bitrate for ten minutes.
  • Alerts should not fire twice for the same person if you can help it.
  • Start and end on a clock so you are not babysitting two dashboards in a panic.
  • Pick a home chat you will actually read.

Frequently asked questions

Is Restream required?

No. It is one option. OBS and other multistream plugins can do it too. Use the one you can troubleshoot at 8 p.m. without a blog open.
