The sound is a format, not a cheat code
Trending audio spreads because people already know the beat of the joke. If your clip hits the same beat, you get a little borrowed attention. If you ignore the timing, you look like you grabbed a song from a list.
Original audio matters too, especially when a platform is trying to reward people who are not just reposting. Speak the hook in your voice. Use the trend as the bed, or skip it. A clear spoken video with no trend still works when the idea is specific.
