Choosing your platforms

Pick a home, a discovery platform, and a place you own. Posting everywhere on day one usually means posting weakly everywhere.

Evergreen

Three jobs, not ten accounts

A home platform is where the full thing lives: the stream, the long video, the podcast, the community. A discovery platform is where strangers meet a piece of it: TikTok, Shorts, Reels, sometimes YouTube search. A community platform is where people can talk without an algorithm in the middle: Discord, a newsletter, your own site.

Twitch, YouTube, Kick, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, podcasts, and newsletters are tools with different clocks. Live platforms reward showing up. Short-form rewards the first second. Search rewards a clear question. Email rewards trust you already earned.

A simple way to choose

Match the platform to the work you will actually repeat.

  • If you talk for hours, home is a live platform plus a clip pipeline.
  • If you film on your phone, home can be TikTok or Reels, with YouTube as the library later.
  • If you teach, YouTube or a podcast plus a newsletter will outlast a single viral clip.
  • Add a second platform only after the home one has a weekly rhythm.

Frequently asked questions

Is it bad to multistream later?

No. It is a production decision, not a personality. Get one show stable, then read the multistream lesson before you split chat and bitrate.
